Snap: Rudolf

Sadly this is the last week of Helena's Snap. I would like to say a big thank you to her for hosting it. This week I have chosen a fun visitor who gate crashed our Christmas. The girls went to the pub on Christmas Eve and were given reindeer hats. One of these seemed to be everywhere.

From the guests.

To Monty

To posing as a decoration.

Boxing Day Walk

We usually try to go for a walk on Boxing Day after the hens are done and before lunch. This year the weather was bright and not too cold. We took a walk down into the woods.

Like a lot of the land around us there has been surface mining for red ochre in the past. The route we took was a gully where the lorries used to travel in and out.

Very hard to believe now as it is completely overgrown.

The route can just about be seen.

Further along the way be passed an interesting fungus.

I also spotted a possibility for The Winter Photography Scavenger Hunt No 4  A Signpost with an image of an animal. This sign features the North Somerset dragon.

Christmas Day

Everyone mucked in preparing for Christmas and Grandma who had come to stay was at hand to give some sage culinary advice to Older Daughter.

Christmas Day itself as always was an early start on the farm with animals to be seen to. Grandma was up early to see the first presents opened before the girls went out to do their share of the animals. A selfie stick present was soon in action.

It was in use again late for more selfies with the cousins.

A great day was had by all although some presents were off a more dubious nature. A wind breaking emoji? I guess the students will be amused.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas.

Christmas Angels

One of the items on the Winter  Photographic Scavenger Hunt is Alternative B An Angel. I thought I better grasp the chance while the Christmas tree is up. This could be my main chance of getting this one as I am not sure how many angels we will see in New Zealand.
So from our tree are a few angels I have acquired over the years.

Quite a collection and then of course the chief on the top.

Or is she a fairy?

Six Word Story

I am joining in today with Miriam's Six Word Story. This week's word is feast. There is plenty of scope for that word at this time of year but this caught my eye in Bath.

A sight I was not delighted to see!

Christmas in the City

I made a dash into Bath yesterday to get a bit of last minute shopping done. Mainly for our big trip rather than Christmas. The middle of the Southgate shopping centre was decked out for Christmas. There were festive telephone boxes.

A Christmas bus cafe.

Presents around the tree.

A Santa Claus.

A Christmas food market stall including the possibility of Pulled Turkey or Gourmet Pigs in Blankets.

It certainly all brightens up the tedium of shopping.

Snap : Lighting the Way

I posted about my quick walk around Tyntesfield on Monday. Whilst I was there I came up with a possibility to join Helena with a festive Snap for Christmas week.
The path down through the gardens is lined with Christmas lanterns. It must look lovely in the evening as a guide down to the house and chapel for Christmas events.

I have chosen four of them to feature in the forefront of vistas of the gardens and house. Each picture is fairly self explanatory.

Merry Christmas to all the Snappers!

Changing Skies

There have been some beautiful skies recently both in the morning and at night. I took these pictures from the main garden one morning. One good thing is that at this time of year you don't have to be out and about too early to catch the sunrise.

Taken within a few minutes of each othe they show quite a different sky.

This last one was taken in the evening and shows an adjoining field to our farm. The low mist hung over the grass.

Memorandum Monday: A Festive Visit

Did you know this is the last Monday before Christmas? I am not sure how many hours that is but you have five more sleeps! So on that note Good Morning everyone and a big wave to Sian and all the other Monday bloggers.
Well I kind of did something new this weekend. I went for a bit of a Christmassy walk at Tyntesfield House. I have of course been there before as it is not far away but this was my first walk around the estate at Christmas. It would have been nice to have had a peep inside but it's entrance by booked ticket only at this time of year to see the house decked out for a Victorian Christmas and I had only really popped in to visit the shop.
The estate was decorated right from the entrance.

It all looked very festive around the shop and restaurant.

They have quite a lot of events at this time of year and the path was decorated all the way down.

There are also quite a lot around the house courtyard.

The door was firmly closed.

Some visitors were entering into the spirit.

It has certainly inspired me to try and return next year and to try and attend some of the events on offer.
